In 2007, there were 5 Juniors handling Dachshunds (at least according to the AKC event web site). They were:
Caroline Bruton with CH PEACHTREE'S MISTER CHADWICK
Travis Cramsey with CH SAYTAR'S METEOR SHOWER SW
Abby Rekuc with CH BROWNWOOD'S HENRI MATISSE MW
Paula J. Tyler with RAISIN'L BRYKAAR ODE TO JOY
Emalia Williams with CH KINDERTECKEL'S RENAISSANCE
Congratulations to Emalia Williams on making the Junior Showmanship finals! This is the second year she has made the finals at the Invitational.
To qualify for the Invitational a Junior Handler must "have 5 first place wins in an Open Class, with competition present. The wins must be earned between October 11, 2006 and October 9, 2007, with the Junior handler being under 18 years of age at the time of the wins. Age on the day of the show has no bearing.
Juniors must have a grade point average of at least 3.0 or equivalent for the two semesters completed immediately prior to the closing of entries. GPA must be verified by an official school transcript or home school information sent in and received by AKC prior to the entry form being sent to the Junior."
Junior Showmanship Rule Changes
The following changes to the Junior Showmanship Regulations will be effective January 1, 2005:
Minimum age of participation will be 9;
Classes will be divided into three age groups: Junior 9-11; Intermediate 12-14, and Senior 15-18;
Competition will be required for the Best Junior Handler award.
